There's something very odd going on with my internet connection right now... never seen anything like it. Download is fine, but upload has slowed to a crawl no matter what configuration I try. Getting less than 0.5 mbps on every speed test I try from any computer. I have also tried resetting the modem/router multiple times, and even connecting directly through the modem doesn't help. I also called my ISP, and they said everything looks perfect on their end - signal and ping is good and all of that.... I am at a bit of a loss for what to do. For tonight, I am giving it a rest. I will see what the status is tomorrow morning... sometimes, these things just fix themselves. It could be a DOS attack as well, I am not sure.
this was a problem with our house i think, and how the AT&T people fixed was they sent a guy over and apparently our outside wires where rusted or damaged, something along those lines and when the guy fixed it and reset everything everything turned up fine, i don't know if that is the problem here, and i doubt that you would need to go and buy a completely different router. just food for thought

Not always, I have been under a DOS attack from some kid my brother got banned on a Garry's Mod server and our ISP had no idea what was going on when we called them.
that sucks... I hope you figure out the problem soon. But yeah, Rusty and/or damaged wires are likely not the problem, otherwise your download speed would likely be effected as well. If it's not a DOS attack then... I honestly don't know what it could be.
I would take down the server and set the router to log incoming connections, then wait a minute and check the log. Should get you the IP of anyone trying to connect, repeated entries would indicate an attack. You might also want to temporarily disable DDNS and reacquire an IP and run speedtest again. If it is an attack that should get them off you.
if speedtest.net is showing you're having a low upload then it's at the ISP's end I believe, especially if you have your computer plugged directly into the modem. That or the modem could be going bad, get another modem and try it to see if that is the case.
Yeah, my other thought was a possibly bad modem... the DOCSIS 3.0's are spendy though! Not sure what else to do at this point though.
you did the best you can do sgtspike sir. but il call up one of my friends and see if they know whats up till then stay frosty
It's happening this morning. I am able to log on to the server, however it will not load past one chunk. A few seconds after that I will be disconnected from the server.
Perhaps you want to try out some of the above mentioned options. It almost seems to me like the lag stopped once people took a lot of notice, similar to how attacks seem to play out. I'd shut it all down and try out some of the recommendations above, see if it turns up anything.
I'll be leaving my mumble server up for the time being, so the community can stay connected. Stay on the Official MCCC Mumble unless it gets super laggy again. Normal Mumble rules apply. satan.homedns.org Default Port (64738) I'll be at work until 2000z-8, so if it breaks, sorry.
Any news on what might have been causing the slowness? We've had a crash or two and perhaps they are related?
It was definitely internet-related, not server-related. I never did figure out what caused it though.
