I have installed a tekkit server on the test server! So what is a tekkit server? The tekkit pack consists of a lot of mods, notably industrial craft, build craft, computer craft, railcraft, and red power! Basically it pushes minecraft into a whole other zone! I'd really appreciate you trying it out! All you need is the client, no tricky installation required! Here is how. Instructions 1. Download the tekkit client. - Windows http://mirror.technicpack.net/files/TechnicLauncher.exe - Mac http://mirror.technicpack.net/files/Technic-Launcher-OSX.zip - Linux http://mirror.technicpack.net/files/technic-launcher-latest.jar 2. Drag the client to wherever you want it. 3. Open the client, and from the top left dropdown menu select "Tekkit" 4. Log in as usual and join the temp server @; play.minecraftcc.com:23456
There are all sorts of neat stuff apart from the mods listed. I have had a LOT of fun with it so far.
I haven't done much in Tekkit before, but I did a server with some friends a while back. I'd like to get into it again.
I voted prematurely. I want to see how this mod works out before I hoot and holler about how we've never needed external mods for our server before.
I see Tekkit Windows and Mac on the post.... But me no see Linux xD Is there something wrong with Linux ) (I know I can just use the .jar)
Doc we need Nether to be turned on for glowstone. It's used in a lot of the higher-level mining operations.
Nope! I was just under the impression none of our community used linux. Added the dl. I dont really count it as an "external mod" its a client, and its super easy to use.
Try updating java, if that doesnt work install the java jdk http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7-downloads-1637583.html
I seem to be having a problem. Whenever I try to launch it, a message pops up saying "checking launcher version" and then it quickly closes it self and nothing happens. I tried running the program as administrator, but I got the same result.
Okay it's a bit difficult to start out, but after you get the hang of it it's fun. I recommend getting a transmutation table as soon as you can, will save you a ton of time later on.
If you can't see anything it's because your render distance view is at the minimum in the video settings
The way i see it, it has tons of possibilities and cool stuff, but theres way too much of it. It would take weeks to study the full potential of it and many people, including me, dont have weeks of time. Personally, i see it as more of an inconvenience, rather than an improvement. So i vote no.
